cheap thrills...

hey luvies
i truly love and am in love with make-up... am i good at it?  yea to an extent... am i great? not gonna lie--no! i love my department store cosmetics, but i'm a clothes whore.  i would HONESTLY prefer to spend my money on a pair of jeans versus lipstick.  this doesn't mean that i won't splurge on my cosmetics, it just means that i value them differently.
i'm at my mom's house for the moment--i cannot pack up my entire make-up kit and bring it here just to guarantee that i have everything.
so what am i doing while i'm here???
i pretty much had to re-buy some stuff...did i wanna spend a lot of money--hell no!!
so i found inexpensive substitutes to get the job done.

quality over quantity???  eeehhhh--i think u know the answer.  these cannot replace my MAC but they get the job done for the time being.

ain't no sunshine when she's gone--dear summer...

hey luvies!! it's me coming at you with an "outdated o.o.t.d." but i felt that once again it couldn't have hurt.  i ended up not wearing the shoes that i had on in these pictures...but what the hell, i'll introduce you to them anyway.
from head to toe

h&m jean shirt purchased in the city
h&m linen shorts from some summers ago
one of the many watches purchased from mandees
forever21 oxfords

i've got the blues...

hey lovies!!!
quickly, this was from ages ago. me, Bev and Lloyd went to atlantic city.  was just cleaning out the camera! so here was the outfit--very simple. a boyfriend button down shirt from the gap, a pair of polo jeans that i got acquainted with a pair of scissors, my "goodwill" purse, and some sandals from forever21.

this was how inexpensive the shirt was and i cannot wait for another major sale like this to occur again!

my h.i.p. loreal duo shadow...in "showy" #224

milan nail polish in "fresh teal"

so something cute, quick and simple for an unexpected trip to atlantic city!  just cleaning out the "camera closet" and felt there was no point in wasting the flicks

more fashion night out flix...

ok so here are some more flicks from fashion night out 2010.  this guy here--i stopped him and asked him for a picture and he was kind enough to take two.  he gave me his business card which was a card for a lounge where he is currently the p.r. rep for...if you're interested then here is the link
IBIZA LOUNGE
but he was a handsome fella and he popped out amongst a crowd of many so he was worth taking a picture of

these are my legs!! lol steve madden knee high boots---unfortunately, they were not broken in and i had to make a stop at duane reade to get these dr. scholls gellin inserts LOL.  but i love these boots and i couldn't wait to wear them.  so hopefully they are good

oh and my little lacy gloves...which i adore because of the bow

i wish i would've gotten the contact for these two ladies...i felt as though they looked super sexy! the ripped stockings and the little black dress---yes!!

one of the models posing outside the rockefeller center to which an older fashion forward lady to watch out for because he had on more eye liner than i did LOL

this is my girlie Dira! i had to put this up here because this is one of my favorite pics and i wish i had had captured a flawless shot in front of a moving train--everyone kept saying that she looked like Janelle Monae because of her hair do

this is Bev standing next to doe deere, who is the ceo and president of "lime crime makeup".  i honestly never heard of her or the product before but from the moment i saw her--she stood out to me and i was trying to get a picture of her ((without asking of course)) before she volunteered.  so if you're interested the site is LIME CRIME MAKEUP and the email address is limecrimemakeup@gmail.com

...the sea of people waiting to meet Kat Von D ((look at Kris and his sunglasses--which i swear got most of the attention that night))

the sephora models are seen in the next three photos...

OMG and this ratchet lady was out in NYC charging people $2 for a picture with her--she must be trying pay for a breast lift LOL

the beautiful me in front of the lipstick mirror at sephora

...Lloyd doing what he does best of course!

and here goes my outfit to top it all off

from head to toe:
h&m shirt bought at a size too big to make a dress
express vest
forever21 lace gloves
lace slip found in marshalls
steve madden boots

but this is truly all i have for F.N.O. and i cannot wait to experience it again1 i told lloyd that i'm taking the whole week off for fashion week the next time around! well, nitey nite my luvies!!

fashion night out 21010....

hey lovers!!!
so this was one of the most amazing experiences of my LIFE!  fashion night out was inspiring in many ways--i was on cloud 9--the feeling was euphoric.  it was my fairy tale!  so i swore up and down my friends were gonna leave me LOL.  i hit the mall at 9:45 am ((the mall opens at 10)).  i had nothing to wear and of course when you shop for something "in particular" you never find it...so imagine my panic.  fortunately i was never left behind.
so we boarded the NY bound train at 3:05pm.  we hit the city with pure excitement and ambition; ready for the experience.  i really can't remember what our first stop was but i'll give it to you to the best of my recollection
inglot--

so we finally got one over here, the only other one in las vegas.
needless to say Bev and i were really excited about checking out the store and their products.
first let me say "i love their nail polishes" and i will scream it from the highest mountain.

the lipsticks are pretty nice as well--i didn't sample anything though, i was trying to get as many pictures as possible before i was told to stop

and finally...their eye shadows; which were honestly a bit too shimmery for me.

there was really no special event, so we didn't stay long!  but it was so cute...this random lady just had to have a picture of lloyd and of course he couldn't refuse.
we also saw some NYC ((the brand)) make-up dancers outside the new Forever21 they weren't giving anything away though--they were really just dancing the whole time.

we stopped at the new MAC store but nothing was going on there either--all the fun went down at sephora!  tubes of red lipstick to write on this ginormous mirror.
this is our girl Dira--

they had shrunken bottles of moet and pelligrino!

oh and they had temporary tattoos ((i'm not gonna post the pictures because they were REALLY unclear)).
i was able to meet my favorite YouTube blogger/make-up artist
RICHIE NICKEL!!!

he was accompanied by enkore ((enkoremakeup)), fafinette ((fafinettex3)), and julie g ((julieg713)).

also there was Kat Von D ((who i also admire)).

but seriously, i think i should have went into p.r. or something because i was chatting it up with nickel and i was biggin' my home girl Bev up ((but it wasn't like i was lying)).  but in the end business cards were passed and i could tell it was really the inspiration she needed--i was super excited for her!
and to throw a cherry on top we walk right smack into ((my favorite quote for the night))---
"oh my god it's Kevin James Benett" and he replied "yes honey it's me!!" LOL
but according to Bev, he birthed her interest for cosmetology.

before heading over to saks where Veronica Webb ((the super model)) and Christan Siriano ((project runway)) were.

and that's where everything went sour!!  some starstruck nut job fan sucker punched my camera and of course it landed on the marble floors in saks ((DISCLAIMER: i don't know if they're really marble)).  but that is the exact reason why this post took so long.
i took a bunch of randoms, but since the post is so long i will continue tomorrow--but all in all you all get the point--WE HAD AN EFFIN BLAST!!
night luvies!!

dalmation bish...

i had a quite a few errands to run today...i've been on the road since 11am and i'm just now settling in--family guy's on the big screen keeping me company.  i had so much to catch up on...the bank, post office, grocery store, etc.
but FIRST, before i show you today's outfit ((you're gonna think i'm an idiot)) i actually deleted the picture of my full outfit--but you'll be able to piece it together with some imagination.
so my make-up was done originally with these three colors because of the outfit that i had on originally.

but the problem was that i woke up and got dressed before the sun came out...because of that i ended up changing into something a little more suited for the weather.  this item here should have been on my "SHEmergency" list.

i ended up smoking out the eyes to go with my look a little better--this is what the wand looks like ((purchased from target)).  it already has black shadow in the tube and it works for those mornings when you're running out of time. i just outlined the outer v of my eye and blended with the same foam applicator.

after applying the smokey wand at the dunkin donuts drive-thru--this is what it ended up looking like ((please keep your make-up criticisms constructive))

and oh yes...my "pink in the afternoon" lip stick

so my shirt was from h&m...a cropped short ((mid-drift revealed)) sleeve tee.  white with black polka dots, i believe this was about $15 and i bought it right at the beginning of summer.
i also wore a pair of distressed jeans American Eagle $49.50 ((a bit of a stretch but super worth it)).
and sandals from banana republic which i got on sale from one of their outlet stores ((i can't remember the price)).
back...

front...

once again i apologize for not having a full view but i will revisit this and update with the re-creation of the outfit very soon.
and finally, my accessories included this alligator ring from target

another $6 watch from mandees

this beaded bracelet from express

and this necklace from forever21 ((which i adore because music is so dear to my heart)).

so the old me would've said screw it and not published a post because it wasn't perfect.  the make-up wasn't on point, but not everyday is gonna be perfect. and because i deleted the pic of my outfit, i figured it would be better to show something because i promised consistency and i'm a woman of my word!
later luvies...i hope you enjoyed
