"now i can let these dream killers kill my self-esteem or use my arrogance as steam to power my dreams" -kanye west

hey lovies... now if you haven't heard that kanye west has debuted his 2012 spring/summer collection of "Dw" this past weekend n paris then you have clearly been sleeping under a rock!

shoes from giuseppe zanottie...
mentoring by british designer louise goldin and givenchy's very own riccardo tisci...
front row cameos from the olsen twins, ciara, lindsey lohan, and anna wintour...
the guest desinger list included sylvia fendi, alexander wang, jeremy scott, joseph altuzarra...

the models marched to waka flocka flame (twitter whale)...

according to the tabloids, this little honey accompanied kanyeezy throughout the event/after party...

now kanye is without a doubt one of the best rappers out and one of my personal faves... here a quote made my the musical genius himself:

"i took out motherf***ing loans to get the best models, to get the best designers, to get the best venues. i gave you everything i had.  this is my first collection.  please be easy.  please give me a chance to grow.  this is not some celebrity s***, i don't f*** with celebrities.  i f*** with the creatives in this room, the amazing people who spend everyday of their life life trying to make the world a more beautiful place"

the looks consisted of mostly leathers, furs, and sweater dresses... but we're wearing this into the spring/summer...??  some of the looks i loved and others appeared to be a little more video chick-ish; the deep plunging necklines with the high slits... i really did have a flash back of jay's "change clothes" music video.  overall, i thought he did pretty well for his first go-round considering the following:
it's a women's line from a straight (heterosexual) guy
it is his FIRST and he probably had a bunch of ideas and had the desire to implement them all
beauty is in the eye of the beholder
it's not the first time i've looked at a collection and thought "unrealistic" and "unwearable"
however, kanye you have some nerve requesting sympathy! lol.  because you are a rapper and because of your level of arrogance you are unfortunately going to be judged more harshly.  the rap game is tough but everyone knows that it's got nothing on the fashion industry.  so there you have "ye" or nay.

"a man has every season while a woman only has the right to spring" -jane fonda

i'm an island baby and as much as i adore my fall boots, i don't think i could ever get enough of or tired of the warmth.
my first experience of the "box" at the lincoln center happened to be the "candela spring/summer 2010 collection".  and apparently they wanted you to feel like you were on an island as well because it was HOT in there... but it was worth it (in my opinion of course).

i felt like i wandered onto the set of a sexy female version of "the lord of the flies" ...without the fighting, etc.  Some of the models had walking/hiking sticks, they stood on top of wood chips and the wild plants gave the impression that they were out in the wilderness.

so my favorite part of the box presentation was that the models actually pose for the photographers.. i mean they personally pose for you!  they made me feel like i was a fashion photographer... nigel barker status.

overall, the looks were extremely wearable.  there were 12 looks all together; i saw youth and simplicity.  it was definitely a breather from all the crazy shit you see during fashion week.  i enjoyed it!
thanks candela!!

"a mother's treasure is her daughter" -catherine pulsifer

my daughter and i have a mother daughter day EVERY week on one of my days off.  it's completely about her and i and no one else (not even daddy).  last week we did a little shopping because the little one has out grown pretty much everything she owns and plus it's time to get ready for the upcoming changes in the weather.

here is my lady's outfit of the day... check her as she sips her pumkin spice (no coffee included) frappuccino.  i got this cloak out of the gap and i had to snatch it up ASAP

after shopping we hit the disney store for some princess fantasy fun... here she is in the princess castle posing, which she does so well LOL

and now instead of being a cowgirl for halloween she wants to be rapunzel... we'll see because that may change tomorrow.
my baby is laced in gap from head to toe (as usual) and i think she' wearing it quite well.  so that's all for now my loves! ta-ta!

"men are taught to apologize for their weaknesses, women for their strengths" -lois wyse

hey lovies...

so last year i decided to enjoy the FNO festivities and i am not exaggerating when i tell you i had a blast!  new york city was so full of life, energy and creativity (yes, more than usual).  so naturally, i returned this year determined to make it better than the last.  instead of hopping from store to store, i was fortunate enough to attend a few shows!!! my best friend and i held back nothing and with much excitement made the best of what the week had to offer.

DISCLAIMER: i will only be featuring a few of the shows i attended

now if you didn't know this about me, i am a big time sucker for fashion with a cause.  kris and i are in the lincoln center waiting for one of our shows to start and suddenly we were approached by a woman who drafted us to the "fatigues to fabulous" premiere.  only an idiot would turn the opportunity down... so we check-in, grab our tickets and make our way to the presentation area.  in front of us is a stage and behind us was a dj in his booth, champagne and a few dknyc watches on display (had to google picture because mine wasn't so great).

the scene gets more and more crowded and in the crowd are vanessa hudgens and designer carmen marc valvo (who designed one of the dresses a soldier wore).
in no time, in enters 6 women beautifully dressed.
the designer list includes charlotte ronson, carmen marc valvo (as previously mentioned), bill blass, calvin klein, donna karen, and a feature from the sears kardashian kollection.
the presenters, mindy grossman (ceo of hsn) and phyllis greenberger (society for women's health research) follow not too far behind and gave us an intro to what we were to expect.
all these women were veterans; all came from different walks and shared their stories of what life had been like for them after serving in the military...  tales of rape, drugs, homelessness, depression, etc.  silence and glossy eyes filled the room... these were by far a few of the amazing women that served this country and endured many hardships during and after their commitments to this country.

the fatigues to fashion organization is nation wide and was created with purpose to support female veterans.   hsn has teamed up with the organization, and the beautiful watches shown up there are a courtesy of dknyc.  when a watch is purchased a donation is made to the society for "women's health and research" and "give an hour".

ann marie faison... the woman in blue (carmen marc valvo) sung amazing grace at the end of the presentation and it truly touched me and almost brought tears to my eyes... and i don't cry easily!  there was just so much emotion behind the voice and i felt it.

to find out more about this cause and/or how you can show your support, i did a little research:

here's my lovely gift bag (which my new "go to" bag) and the wonderful gifts that were inside... thank you fatigues for fabulous!  i will definitely be purchasing a watch in the near future and will showcase once received...

so maybe not the typical fashion show... but one of the best presentations at the lincoln center by far!

"the difference between style and fashion is quality..." giorgio armani

hey lovies
it's me again and i'm back (again) with full vengeance this time!!

as everyone knows... i am a HUGE rih fan! yes.. i rep the #navy proudly!  and honestly after seeing the photos from the new armani exchange jean (denim) campaign how could you not at least appreciate her beauty???  rih is now the new face of armani and she totally makes lust (not just love) to the camera...
she made sure she brought that good girl gone bad/rated r "im a bad-ass" sex appeal and i love it.

one critique... i wish they would've put her in some killer shoes... hers are pretty plain in the photo below

i also appreciate the fact that they aren't too too racy... i've seen kinkier calvin klein ads.
HOWEVER...my opinion could be biased and i'll be the first to admit it.

classic black and white photos, a classic car with leather interior, a platinum blonde wig and armani jeans.

so dolls... let me know what you think. do you love it?? do you hate it?? i did read a lot of the reviews and HONESTLY most weren't big fans. i heard:
 "where are the jeans"
"i didn't even know that was rihanna"
"the photos should've been sexier"
totally interested in hearing your thoughts... fill me in and drop me a love note!
would you buy these jeans???

"i always thought of the T-shirt as the alpha and omega of the fashion alphabet" -giorgio armani

hey lovies...

no witty banter for me tonight.  just excited that i can be back here on klosetFREEK doing what i love!  i've been doing a lot of shopping and i have a lot of exciting outfits to share.  the most important purchase of them all was probably this macbook.  so i can definitely be consistent (my guy and i were sharing the hp and it was NOT WORKING).

but enough of that... i did a post a while back in this same exact shirt from h&m but it was short sleeved.  i wore that shirt out, it was a favorite of mine.  i love polka dots and stripes, so when i saw this i couldn't refuse it!

the shirt is pair with a spandex black mini, opaque tights, a sweater vest, and knee high boots.

i also have this genuine leather (non brand name) back pack

finally, a view from the back...

that tiny shadow in all these pics is driving me insane...i'm gonna have to send it in to be repaired, not sure how long it will take but it is necessary.  i haven't checked the quality of the computer's camera but the one on my hp was decent so this one should be able to do the trick until my point and shoot returns.

that is all for now loves, still so much to do before i get completely back into the swing of things...
smocches to you all.
